Don't worry about language, style, or tone. That's why I'm here. Just get your thoughts down and I'll handle the rest. Once you submit a letter, I will contact you with further instructions if I'd like to include it in the collection.
Please be aware that I will most likely make changes to what you've written. This in no way reflects on you. As more and more letters come in, I want to ensure fluidity and unity by giving the project a larger purpose. That may come in assigning categories or chapters or even linking letters to others that have something in common.
Your letter can be funny or sad. It can be short or long. It can be to that bully in fifth grade or your future son-in-law. The idea is that these are words you have not said. Maybe you will someday; maybe this will even give you the courage.
Also, don't worry about the format. If it looks like a letter, great. If the best way for you to get the thoughts down is to organize them like a poem or song, that's fine too. I am open to interesting styles and structures.
Here is an example:
Name: Jane Smith.
Recipient: Grandmother - Deceased
Context/Background (if necessary): My grandma had Alzheimer's and I didn't see her for the last three years of her life.
Letter: Dear Grandma, I'm sorry I wore jeans to your funeral...
